I have no issue on 32 buffer size (RTL 2.5ms) on a empty project when CPU Usage simulator set to 80%. I have no issue when doing this on 64 buffer size (RTL 3.17ms) When I set my buffer size to 32 I get the same noise as you experiences especially on CPU Usage simulator to 80%.(Remember this is overall RTL latency on 2.5 ms on a heavy project pushing CPU to 80%)Ĭan you recreate your issue in an empty project when you set your CPU Usage simulator to 80% and just highlighting with your mouse? Or let say you have one wave file that you are moving around. I can hear minor clicks and pops when highlighting and dragging mouse on CPU Usage simulator to 50%.

What would you say is a typical project file size for you in Ableton? The largest I have at the moment is 20,090 kb. What would you say is a typical project file size for you in Ableton?

I haven’t done those steps yet, only clean install on graphics driver. So I don’t see how it can be my new system if the issue is present on my old system.

Pulling out every device connected to pc and test Ableton on same settings with Asio4allSorry I meant I tried it in my old intel i5 computer and I was able to recreate the issues on there too with the same cpu spikes and crackles so it is clearly not something specific to my new system. You got the same issues on empty projects so something is wrong with your system, and it's probably not Ableton. Like I said I tested with a pretty "large" project on the same settings as you and dragging mouse/highlighting without any issues. Pulling out every device connected to pc and test Ableton on same settings with Asio4all Reseating hardware (memory and GPU) on motherboard Have you done these four points I asked you about? I'm not sure what you mean when you say old and new DAW's. I’m convinced Ableton is poorly utilising resources at low latencies.Like I said I tested with a pretty "large" project on the same settings as you and dragging mouse/highlighting without any issues.

It is understandable why my old UR44 driver may struggle under such conditions on my old daw and my new daw but why did the quantum 2626 struggle even more at lower latencies? I’ll be interested to see people run test tone at 50% in Ableton with largeish projects at 64 sample size and do the same mouse scenario. It must be a problem with Ableton and how it utilises memory / gui / buffering possibly. I tried Studio one artist but it doesn’t have a test like Ableton does nor can I add VSTs. No it was Ableton 10, latest version I tested on both daws.
